Meet Jess 👋

Pleased to meet you! I'm Jess, the owner and landscape designer at Hidden Blossom Landscape Design!

From a very young age, I started my journey in landscaping by working with my parents. My mother was passionate about gardening, and my father was a construction entrepreneur. They consistently involved me in their home and gardening projects.

I've always been passionate about spending time outdoors, whether it was gardening, biking, or roller skating. At 13, I started exploring potential career paths, with dreams of becoming an interior designer and starring on HGTV. As I got older, my love for the outdoors persisted, but my enthusiasm for design intensified.

When I was 16, I joined the landscape industry through my high school's co-op program. I worked as a Junior Designer until I turned 18. During this time, I observed consultations and created basic CAD drawings. Later, I had the chance to work with the construction team, engaging in building and planting tasks. This experience allowed me to develop my skills on the job.

After finishing high school, I kept working until starting college. In 2011, I got accepted into Fanshawe's Landscape Design program. Summer breaks lost some of their previous fun. Through Fanshawe's co-op program, I worked at Connon Nurseries as a maintenance technician, landscape designer, and sales consultant.

I graduated from Fanshawe with Honors and am now stepping into the world of landscaping while also having met the love of my life! My professor kindly provided a letter of reference, "It has been my pleasure to have Jessica in several courses, and as her professor, I have had the opportunity to observe her and assess her knowledge. I would rate her overall performance as excellent. This is evident in her grades, which are in the upper percentile in all subjects. She has consistently proven herself to be highly motivated, often pushing herself to explore the scope of a project beyond its requirements. Jessica has demonstrated excellent people skills and is a great listener. I believe she is a wonderful ambassador for the interests and future of the landscape industry."

I spent 6 years working as a landscape designer for various landscape companies until the arrival of my first child. During this time, I built a network and took on small residential design projects on the side. In 2020, faced with a global pandemic and the inability to secure daycare for my daughter, I decided to establish Hidden Blossom.

Hidden Blossom is not merely a name; it symbolizes a path of development and exploration. Inspired by the concept of a "hidden gem," my enthusiasm drove me to pursue my lifelong aspiration, assisting others in discovering the marvels of nature's beauty.

With more than 15 years of experience, I can confidently say I've experienced it all. My mentor once mentioned that landscape design goes beyond creating a beautiful image. It's essential to grasp the layout, soil and lighting conditions, maintenance, and construction aspects. Each day brings a new learning journey, discovering fresh trends and inspirations in the landscape industry.

After five years in business, I am proud to announce that I have received Hamilton and Burlington's Readers' Choice Awards, and one of my exceptional projects has been featured in Prime Videos' Luxury Listings. I have designed over 1,000 projects and, with proven client referrals, I am a reliable landscape professional dedicated to delivering outstanding results. I take pride in my attention to detail and the quality of my work, ensuring that every project aligns with your unique vision and needs. I offer unwavering support and guidance, prioritizing throughout the entire design and implementation process.
